Esperanza Spalding beat Justin

Jazz artist Esperanza Spalding's surprise win over teen pop music singer Justin Bieber at Sunday night's Grammy Awards prompted some upset Bieber fans to unleash their anger online.

Beliebers, as Justin's fans are called, went through various phases of revolt following his loss. First, they were very, very angry and acted out on Twitter and Facebook by calling Spalding a variety of expletives, some of which were upsettingly racist.

Little-known jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding grabbed Best New Artist from a bummed Justin Bieber, Spalding comes as a breath of fresh air among this year's pop talent. Primarily known as a jazz bassist, the Portland, Ore., native has been a professor at Berklee College of Music and has recorded with M. Ward.

Her most recent album, 'Chamber Music Society,' was recorded in 2010 and features Spalding's vocals and upright bass playing. 2011 is already looking great for the young singer and we wish her continued success.
