Accessing Applications Hidden On Nokia N900


OVI's Store has been providing a variety of applications for the Nokia N900. Unfortunately the number is still very small. Actually there are a variety of hidden applications on the Maemo platform. How do I activate it??

Various applications can be accessed hidden by activating the Maemo repository. No need to bother, all already exist in the Application Manager. Users can also download it directly from the phone.

Steps should be done is to add some new catalogs that exist in the Application Manager. To add a user needs to go to Menu> Application Manager.

In the Application Manager, there are three icons: Uninstall, Download, and Update. Now, to add a new catalog select the Application Manager menu in the middle of the top, then select the Application Catalog.

Some catalog options will appear. What we are doing is adding three new catalog, which serves to open 'hidden closet' variety of new applications later.


To do so select New. After that, the contents as instructed below:

1. Maemo Extras Catalog Details:

* Catalog name: Maemo Extras
* Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
* Distribution: Fremantle
* Components: free non-free
* Select Disabled, then Save.


2. Testing Maemo Applications Catalog Details:

* Catalog name: Maemo Extras-Testing
* Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/
* Distribution: Fremantle
* Components: free non-free
* Select Disabled, then Save

* For Extras Repository-testing, the various aplikasnya still in testing stage and not yet perfect. Several applications will probably crash.

3. Developer Testing Maemo Applications Catalog Details

* Catalog name: Maemo Extras-devel
* Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
* Distribution: Fremantle
* Components: free non-free
